TESTIMONIALS
" I came to Samantha to work on a specific trauma that was severe, shocking and unspeakable. For years, I felt like I'd been stuck in an emotionally scorching bath, where even the slightest flinch would send searing, unbearable pain through my being. I couldn't move at all. The usual therapies were too excruciating for me.
Samantha was gentle and kind. Challenging but non-intursive, respectful, patient and intrinsically in-tune with me; moving when I did - and only as far as I could manage.
Gradually the unbearable became bearable and the unspeakable was spoken. It wasn't magic but it was magical at times. Especially when I could see that my life was never, ever going to be so awful again.
18 months later, not only am I able to bear my trauma; not only has that scorching, torturous bath become luke-warm, but I've bee able to let all the water out! Gone! While I in my entirety remain.....just beginning to look forward to my life." - Client
When emotional pain hits us, as grief or through other circumstances, we can feel all at sea. Lost in the middle of an ocean with a storm raging. Buffeted by winds and rains from all directions, engulfed by waves of emotions, and left hanging onto barely a piece of driftwood we can wonder if we are going mad and if we will ever be OK again. We may feel frozen, silent, numb and people around us often don't know what to say or how to help and we often don't know what we need to ask. We may go into flop, freeze, fight or flight in response to our own feelings and be afraid to even feel them.
Having a grief coach at this time is like having a captain in the storm who can help you learn more about the ship you sail and how to navigate it in this new territory called grief. we do not go through surgery and then ignore the wound and hope it will heal on it's own. we turn to surgeons. nurses and GP's for guidance. Loss is an amputation of our identity and the emotional wound needs the same care as a physical one. Grief is the healer, not the thing to be healed and having the right support and understanding of the grief process is vital for a healthy return to living a full life.
Grief coaching is not about moving on, getting over it, or being happy again. It is about being who you truly are, a human with the full experience of sadness, anger, despair, hope love and joy. Grief can teach you about what matters to you. Nothing is more beautiful that a person who can experience all feelings as they are all about love. Either a lack of it or an abundance of it.
